When Animoto & YouTube Collide

Animoto Front Page

Animoto has become one of my favorite tools to create a video slide show.  However, a few weeks ago I ran into some difficulties with a few of my videos that were created using Animoto and uploaded to my YouTube account.  The videos that posed a problem were the videos than contained music from Animoto’s music files.  Now, that my YouTube vids are monetized, those same vids with the copy-written music are a no go.  I’m not able to monetize the vids because the music is copy-written.

If you are a fellow You-Tuber and use Animoto, dance to the beat of your own drum.  Instead of using the music that’s available through Animoto, upload your personal music.  This may take some extra work and money on your part , but it will pay off in the end.  You may not have partner status on YouTube when you join, but you never know what the future may hold.  Why allow YouTube to make all the money on your content when you can have a piece of the pie?

Keeping Up With The “Social Media” Joneses

Social Class

Keeping Up With The Joneses: an idiom used to refer that one is attempting to appear financially (in this case socially) well off as ones neighbor by gaining material belongings.

If you’re new to the block or a veteran to the community of social networking, I believe many of us have had our day/s of attempting to stay in the know of whats new in the social media department.  Quite frankly, if we’re honest, this task can be a bit overwhelming.  Either by acquainting ourselves with the latest updates of a social networking platform, maintaining security settings or joining a new network that has recently launched can literally set us in social anxiety overload.

Is it for me?

The best way to avoid pursuing the “Social Joneses” status is to only join networks that benefit you and not cheat you out of  social stability.  Whenever you decide to join a new network be sure to ask yourself…..”Is this network beneficial to me?”  In order to know if it is actually right for you you must first know your purpose for wanting to join the network.

Why am I joining?

1.Everyone else is joining.

2.Joining will benefit me, my business and/or networking purposes.

After you have decided if joining will benefit you and not burgalarize your productivity, then you should take action by joining or deciding not to associate yourself with the network.  Sometimes you may not know the true benefits until you have signed up.  The same as moving into a new community.  The pros and cons aren’t evident until you acquaint yourself with the community, enroll your kids in school and/or have paid your first tax installment.  With that being said, let’s make sure our investment in the community increases our value and diminishes it.

Taking Notes

Seeing as though we have become technically sophisticated and everything we carry has some sort of charging device, I’m still taking notes.

I still carry a planner and a pad everywhere I go.  There’s something about hand written note taken that makes my life easier.  Of course I have a notepad on my phone as well as my laptop.  However, those only come into play when I’m in the middle of no where and I have to jot something down before it escapes my mind.

Quick question.  Are you still taking written notes or do you prefer using your smartphone or another device and why?
